21 Days of Prayer - Day 17

Day 17 |  Faith that has an impact on the kingdom Choosing to believe big is a way to bring God’s power forward into our lives.  This faith will ultimately have an eternal  impact on those around us.   Today's Family Moment   When we choose to believe God for big things, we are more aware of His power at work in our lives. That kind of faith carries an eternal impact.  TODAY’S SCRIPTURE They came back to Moses and Aaron and the whole Israelite community at Kadesh in the Desert of Paran.  There they reported to them and to the whole assembly and showed them the fruit of the land.  They gave Moses this account: “We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit. But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large.  We even saw descendants of Anak there. The Amalekites live in the Negev; the Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Can...

Day 16 |  Faith that empowers others Faith isn’t just personal, it opens doors for others. When we pray with faith, we become agents of breakthrough in the lives of those we love and serve. Today's Family Moment Faith isn’t just for us, it can help others, too! When we pray and trust God, He can use our prayers to bring transformation, answers and hope to the people we love and serve. TODAY’S SCRIPTURE We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to  please ourselves. Each of us should please our neighbors for their good,  to build them up.  For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written:  “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.”   For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same  attitude of mind toward e...

WORD 4 TODAY - Undeserved Mercies

When someone hurts you or, worse, hurts somebody that you love, revenge can seem appealing.  After all… They were mean. They were selfish. They talked behind your back. They broke a vital promise. They lied about you. They criticized you. They ignored you. They did the unthinkable. They walked away. They deserve to be punished, right? To feel some of that same pain?  They deserve a consequence that  will not only help them learn,  but will be just as severe as the inflicted wounds. And yet, because God sees things differently, both His standards and tactics can be surprising.  And that’s why the apostle Paul, writing to the believers in Thessalonica said: “See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people.” 1 Thessalonians 5:15   Paul’s words sound a lot like Jesus’ words, to love your neighbor as yourself; to do to others what you’d like them to do to you. See: Matthew 22:38-40 God’...

21 Days of Prayer - Day

Day 14 |  Faith that inspires Your Faith isn’t just what we believe—it’s how we live. When we live by faith, we give others a model and invitation to follow. Today's Family Moment   Faith isn’t just what we believe—it's how we live it out. When we live by faith, others can see it and be encouraged to follow God, too. TODAY’S SCRIPTURE Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering. Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my...

21 Days of Prayer - Day 13

Day 13 |  Faith that acts as a shield and banner Faith defends us—but it also inspires courage in others. When we carry our shield, we strengthen the faith of those beside us in the battle. Today's Family Moment   Faith protects us—like a shield! It also helps others be courageous. When we trust God, we remind others that they can trust Him, too. TODAY’S SCRIPTURE Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for...

21 Days of Prayer - Day 12

Day 12 |  Faith that leaves a legacy Faith, hope and love leave a lasting legacy. Passing on faith means modeling a life where love and hope make faith real and lasting. Today's Family Moment   Faith, hope, and love last forever. When we share the love and hope we have in Jesus, it helps others see that our faith is real—and they can follow Jesus, too! TODAY’S SCRIPTURE You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.  Join with me in sufering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer.  Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules.  The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops.  Reflect...
