Word 4 Today - Philippians 4:6

Image
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬ ‭KJV‬‬ This is an excellent example as to how to believe and what to do when you are worried, anxious, in trials or trouble. Let’s break it down: 1. be careful for nothing. That simply tells us “do not worry!” Don’t lose sleep .. don’t allow it to take your joy .. don’t make it more difficult for yourself, when it’s not necessary. 2. Pray… when you pray you are humbling yourself to God and you are submitting to His way and His will in this situation. 3. This act of surrender will lift off the burden that you carry. 4. Now give God “thanks”. You are thanking Him for the many times that He has heard you.  This is belief! You have been here before and have seen His many rescues, blessings and answered prayers. 5. Your Faith has been strengthened by your actions. You know God will move on your behalf. 6. Now wait and see that indeed He i

James 3:13 “Who  is  wise and understanding among you?  Let him show by good conduct  that  his works  are done  in the meekness of wisdom” The Path to Success There are many definitions for success in today’s culture. For some, success is defined by the number of accomplishments we’ve made, or the number of possessions we’ve attained. Jesus’ definition of success is counter-cultural. It has nothing to do with our accomplishments or our possessions—it has everything to do with our character. Jesus’ teaching in Luke 16:10 is primarily about the content of our character. He says that those who are trusted with small things will be entrusted to larger things. Those who are faithful with what they’ve been given will be given the opportunity to be faithful over more. And those who are dishonest, unfaithful, and untrustworthy, will do the same with what they’re given. It’s not ultimately important to Jesus whether we are financially successful in life. What’s more important is what we do wit

What Do You Hear”

Luke 9:50 -56 “As the time drew near for him to ascend to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.   He sent messengers ahead to a Samaritan village to prepare for his arrival. But the people of the village did not welcome Jesus because he was on his wa y to Jerusalem.   When James and John saw this, they said to Jesus, “Lord, should we call down fire from heaven to burn them up?”    But He turned and rebuked them,  and said,   “You do not know what manner of   spirit you are of.   For   the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save  them.  And they went to another village. Meditate on this for a moment and hear what the Holy Spirit wants to teach you. Do you want to share what you learned?

WORD 4 TODAY “Preparation”

Image
In the story of Pharaoh’s dream, we read of how hastily Joseph was brought from the dungeon to face Pharaoh. Did he have time to prepare? Yes and no.  He had no warning that he suddenly would be questioned by the king. Yet Joseph, was ready for almost anything because of his right relationship with God. It was not his knowledge of dreams that helped him interpret their meaning, but it was his knowledge of God. Our most important opportunities may come when we least expect them!  How can you prepare yourself for unexpected opportunities? By getting to know God!  Genesis 41:14 NLT “Pharaoh sent for Joseph at once, and he was brought hastily from the dungeon. After a quick shave and change of clothes he went in and stood in Pharaoh’s presence”

Even when you are old I will be the same.  And even when your hair turns white, I will help you.  I will take care of what I have made. I will carry you, and will save you.  Isaiah 46:4

WORD 4 TODAY - “Fight Back”

Image
Fight Back with Truth At the beginning of Jesus’ public ministry, a strange thing happened:  He was led into the wilderness, by the Spirit, where He encountered the devil. After fasting for forty days and forty nights, Jesus was hungry—taunted by the enemy to satisfy His craving for food.  Essentially, Satan tried to provoke Jesus to prove that He was God’s Son by turning rocks into bread. Can you sense the manipulation? If you’re really the Son of God, do something. Take matters into your own hands. Give in to your desire. Provide for yourself. Is God even good if He holds out on you? But Jesus refused to be bullied. “Jesus answered, ‘It is written: Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬ This pattern continued throughout two more temptations—where the devil temped Jesus with protection and power, but Jesus rebuked him with Scripture.  So what are some things we can learn from Jesus’ encounter with the enemy?
