In relationships you will always have opportunities to be the peacemaker, because too often everyone wants to be right, so we can’t seem to agree to disagree.
How many relationships have been broken because there isn’t a peacemaker?
Siblings have lost one another over trivial arguments, children won’t speak to parents because of something of the past, marriages have been broken due to unforgiveness, co-workers can not tolerate one another because of gossip, and it goes on and on.
Matthew 5:9 reads,
God blesses those who work for peace,
for they will be called the children of God
So like the words of Rodney King back in 1992, when he shouted to all the world, “Why can’t we just all get along”?  The answer is simple. There isn’t anyone willing to set aside themselves, their feelings / opinions and work towards being “the peacemaker”.
We are not being taught to go back and make peace with one another; rather we are taught to go and prove your point, make your stand or get mad at one another. This behavior will only cause division, simply because you won’t change your way of thinking and just say “hey let’s keep peace amongst us”.
The Word of God instructs us to, as much as possible, strive to live peaceably with one another.
Let’s look at some bible verses together.
Romans 12:18 NLT
Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.
1 Peter 3:8-13
Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude. Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing. For the Scriptures say,
“If you want to enjoy life
 and see many happy days,
keep your tongue from speaking evil
and your lips from telling lies.
Isn’t God’s Word so gentle and yet perfect?
Do you still get the feeling that it is okay to continue to make your point or make your stand at whatever the cost or hurt it may bring?
Look at what God says when we strive for peace with one another.

Proverbs 16:7

When people’s lives please the Lord, even their enemies are at peace with them.

Isaiah 26:3

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you and all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
Matthew 5:9 reads
God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God
There has to be changes in how we deal with others. We must be instructed, reminded and willing to become “the peacemaker” when opportunities presents themselves.
Heart Questions
1.      How does Colossians 3:15 Living Bible speak to you?
Let the peace of heart that comes from Christ be always present in your hearts and lives, for this is your responsibility and privilege as members of his body.
2.     What do you think about Galatians 5:22?
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness,                               goodness, faithfulness
If Peace is one of the wonderful fruits of the Spirit, let’s consider this;
Let us all take from the fruit of Peace and consistently Taste and Eat of it so that you and others can enjoy its sweetness and fresh aroma.
