Issues of the Heart – Unbelief

Aww such sweet melody, check it out.
Can I challenge you to take a closer look at unbelief in your life?
Do you still struggle with God’s promises?
Are you afraid to trust God?
Do you ask for confirm again and again after hearing from God because of unbelief.
There is wisdom in waiting on God to confirm His Word, and there is asking for confirmation because you lack faith.
So let’s take a moment to examine our heart and ask the Lord to reveal, if we indeed struggle with unbelief. And it may surprise you to realize that “unbelief” is sin.

What is “unbelief?
It is the absence of faith; lack of religious belief.
In the wilderness when Israel was delivered from the bondage of Egypt, it was there that God tested them, after they had seen and heard the many wonders that God did for them. But it was their lack of faith (or disbelief) that caused them not to enter in to the promise land. Let’s read,
Hebrews 3:16-19
“For who, having heard, rebelled." Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses? Now with whom was He angry, forty years?" Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpes fell in the wilderness? And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief?
Sin is what the scripture calls a heart that has “unbelief”
Now, the Heart of Worship is Faith.
Hebrews 11:1
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”.
NLT
“Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see”
Deeper
Faith is an evidence, or an indication, sign, proof, confirmation of what cannot be seen by the eye, but spiritually, we should be able to know it and believe it.  When you have a relationship with God, you will begin to walk by faith and not BY sight. Slowly you begin to trust God, and with each new step your faith increases, and you will have the eye of faith to see those things that are good and true.  If not, you will continue to walk according to your own way and have an eye to see only what you desire to see.
Question: How does faith increase?
So faith comes from hearing, the Good News about Christ.
We all must desire to grow in our faith! It is important that we begin to believe God and all of His promises. Want to increase your faith? Here are just a few suggestions.
Listening to the Word of God when you are driving. Joining a bible study. Get into the habit of enjoying daily reading of the Word, this will keep you in tune with the mind and heart of God. Ask a leader for accountability, so that you can share with them what your reading, (this helps to get disciplined and used to daily reading).
Heart Question
·        How does this warning speak to you about how crafty unbelief can be?
Hebrew 3:12
Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil
and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God.
Are you struggling with believing the promises of God?
Remember that we are called to examine our own hearts. It is never too late to talk to God and confess our shortcomings. Tell Him how you need and want His help
Look at what God wants to do for you.
Deuteronomy 8:1-2
“Be careful to obey all the commands I am giving you today. Then you will live and multiply, and you will enter and occupy the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors.
Remember how the Lord your God led you through the wilderness for these forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would obey his commands
Deuteronomy 8:6-9
“So obey the commands of the Lord your God by walking in his ways and fearing him. For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land of flowing streams and pools of water, with fountains and springs that gush out in the valleys and hills. It is a land of wheat and barley; of grapevines, fig trees, and pomegranates; of olive oil and honey.
It is a land where food is plentiful and nothing is lacking.
Let Us Pray
Lord, teach my heart to see you more and more with each new day. That I may walk in your ways by faith and not lean on my own sight. For I long to walk by the still waters and green pastures and allow you to restore my soul. Whatever it is that you are requiring of me, show me how to take that step of faith.
Lord, forgive my unbelief and help me to walk by faith into new lands which freely flow with milk and honey. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!
Deuteronomy 8:10
When you have eaten your fill, be sure to praise the Lord, your God, for the good land He has given you.

AUTHOR'S NOTE
Today, I can look back at my times of testing where God called me to "step out by faith and know that I am God." So glad that I did. Do you want to share your step of faith with us?
