Children

Have you been through the
Empty Nest Experience?

The days are quickly approaching and very soon my youngest child will be moving out to explore the world. I am not sure how I am feeling these days.
Just last month my eldest moved out and the hard reality hit me. I felt numb. Didn’t know how to feel. Was happy to see the day when they would want to go out and fly on their own, yet, I am not sure about the idea of entering new uncharted territory.
I have been so blessed, to have such a great relationship with both of my children, and the awesome opportunity to have been able to live together as a family for this long. They both are way into their late twenties and thirties.
For those of you, that have not gone through the experience of watching your child make the decision to leave home and spring out into the world on their own, please know that this is what you are raising them up to do! The time will soon come, and you must prepare yourself for it.
You will encounter the roller coaster emotions of preparing them for the journey, but be strong and of good courage for this is what will forever encourage them to keep reaching out to new heights, new experiences and new challenges.
Fortunately, the parent’s role is to pour into them the very best. Such truths as;
·        good conscience
·        good morals
·        good choice making
·        good attitude and behavior
·        a strong relationship with God
·        a good education,
·        strong work ethics
·        belief that good always triumphs evil, etc.
Then comes the day when they will go out to see the world through their own eyes and find many new wonders. This is a good thing for both them and all parents. Understanding that this is the circle of life and God has ordained this from the beginning. Children will leave their father and mother and make their way for many reasons; marriage, patriotic duty, education, independence or maybe a career.
Note to self:
·        As a parent, trust God to continue to work in the hearts and lives of your children
·        Be grateful for the time you have with them as you watch them grow and become the people that God would have them to be.
·        Keep a godly perspective and attitude pertaining to the empty nest
Let’s Pray
Father, for the many that have been through the wilderness of the “empty nest,” may they continue to be a mighty testimony to the ones that follow close behind and have not yet experienced this glorious milestone. Bless and strengthen our hearts and spirit as we give to you our children and our lives.
In Jesus’ Name we pray!
The Word of God
Genesis 2:24
 “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh”
“Hear, my children, the instruction of a father,
And give attention to know understanding;
“Now therefore, listen to me, my children, For blessed are those who keep my ways.
A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children,
In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, And His children will have a place of refuge.
Children’s children are the crown of old men, And the glory of children is their father.
The children of Your servants will continue, And their descendants will be established before You.”
But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children
Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her:
