The Cross, Conflict and Final Victory
This chapter will be one where we can look at
our life and understand why the world does not want any part of the cross. Simply
stated, the world rejects God. This world is under the sway of satan and can
not see their sin against God. They think they know God but walk contrary to
God.
Romans 1:18-24
But God shows his anger from heaven
against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. They
know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since
the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything
God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities, His eternal power and
divine nature, so they have no excuse for not knowing God.
Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship
him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of
what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they
instead became utter fools. And instead of worshiping
the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere
people and birds and animals and reptiles.
So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired.
So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired.
Until they can see their need for the cross and
its Savior, they will continue to walk in darkness. Continue to pray for the
world and let your light shine!
Acts 26:17-19
“And I will
rescue you from both your own people and the Gentiles. Yes, I am sending you to
the Gentiles to
open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of
Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a
place among God’s people, who are set apart by faith in me.”
When I first read this book, I really had no
understanding of how important the work of the cross was for me. After reading Born
Crucified I have a deeper understanding about the cross and all that it
represents. It has been a life changer in my walk with the Lord. I can clearly
see the contrast of the world to the cross. They are as opposite and apart from
one another as heaven is to hell.
1 John 15:19, tells us that the world is under the rule of satan.
John 17:14, Jesus explains the world
hates Him.
John 17:6, taken out of this world and no longer walk
according to its ways.
2 Timothy 3:12, all who desire to live godly in Christ will suffer
persecution.
In your own words, how do you now see the
world?
In Galatians
6:14, Paul states that he is crucified with the world and the world is
crucified to him.
“But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus
Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me,
and I to the world.”
What does this mean?
Are you open to allowing the Holy Spirit to
continue to take the world out of you?
Have you
gained understanding about what it means to continue to be crucified?
What would you say has
been some of the changes you have seen?
Thank God, that we have been rescued. We all
have a story about salvation and the wonderful works that God continues to do
in our lives. The final victory is when we can reach out to others from the
very waters that God pulled us out from.
