GODLY LOVE

1 John 4:8
"But anyone who does not love, does not know God - for God is love."
Here John is saying that, "God is love," not, "Love is God."

The world with its shallow and selfish view of love, has turned these words around and contaminated our understanding of love. Consider the confusion and the twisted understanding that our younger generation is learning about what love is.

The world thinks that love is simply what makes a person feel good and that it is all right to sacrifice moral principles and another's rights in order to obtain such "love."

But that isn't real love at all, it is the exact opposite; it is selfishness.

God is not that kind of "love".

Real love is like God, who is holy (pure), just (good) and perfect.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 states perfectly what real love is…

“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance”

If we truly know God, then let us love as He does.

Examine yourself to see if your love is real as God's love is for All.
