Dear Journal - Wisdom
It's been some time since I've tried sharing a study on one of the books of the Bible.
I now understand the challenge and the cost of undertaking such a project.
What do you do, when it's been placed within your heart?
A battle rages within your heart and you go through all the different things that many before had (Joshua, Peter, Jonah, Moses, Gideon and all the saints before you). Hence, look at the date when this call was given and when it actually began!
There is no reward without a sacrifice. There is no challenge without a cost. But the treasure is that: "obedience is better than sacrifice!"
So let's begin in Proverbs 2 and let's see, hear and learn what the Holy Spirit is saying about Wisdom!
We know that God's definition of wisdom is not the same as the world's.
“that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in
love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of
understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father
and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of
wisdom and knowledge” Colossians 2:2-3
“For the
wisdom of this world is foolishness with God” 1 Corinthians
3:19
verse 1 "My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding"
God is pleading with us to listen to His words so that our soul may be blessed by the hidden treasures of His Word!
If you seek her as silver and search for her as for hidden treasures. "Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God.
Discernment is to have the ability to reason and know what is right and wrong according to God's Word. When you desire God's treasures, you will set your mind upon that desire. You will stay committed and focus on obtaining that which you have purposed to do.
Let's be reminded of God's gentle instruction to "seek and cry out" AND "Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth" Colossians 3:2
He guards the paths of justice and preserves the way of His saints.
Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity and every good path”
Look at the abundance that God has for you when you obey! You WILL understand what the fear of the Lord is AND gain knowledge of God.
To have true knowledge and understanding of God is what salvation is about. To fear God is not the same as what the world believes. In the spiritual sense of fearing God, is to give God His rightly place, honor and worship that comes from a heart that has been set free and with an understanding that God brought you back to your rightly place of having a relationship with Him as His own child. Remember how Adam had such an intimate relationship with God in the garden of Eden as he walked and talked with God in the cool of the evening?
God would give Adam all that he needed and all of creation was named by Adam!
So much freedom and such a communion of love between Father and son. God even knew Adam's heart and desire, and made for him a companion! What a sweet fellowship they had!
That is the fear of God! Knowing, loving and walking with the One who knows you above anyone else. The One who cares for you and wants you to bring Him all your burdens, desires and worries. In doing so, you will have wonderful insight into the knowledge of God, as you desire to grow closer and deeper with Him. Make yourself to learn more about God and to make yourself approved by Him (2 Timothy 2:15). You will also gain favor and all the benefits in the verses above, plus so much more!
verses 10 - 13 "When wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you, to deliver you from the way of evil, from the man/woman who speaks perverse things". From those who leave the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness;
This is why God is God. Only He can do this glorious work in your hearts. Only He can give, change, restore and love in this manner. He not only cares for you, but He also will watch over you, keep you safe from the evil that will come your way. In your walk, you shall encounter much temptation, tribulation, pain and all that comes with being in this world. But we have the beautiful words from our Lord, who also walked this world.
John 16:33 "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
I will make you ruler over many things.
Matthew 25:21
