JEHOVAH RAPHA
· Israel
received her freedom to leave Egypt, after 400 years of being slaves to the
Egyptians!
· Israel
witnessed the 10 plagues that fell on Egypt and NOT on them!
· Israel
was given clothing, silver, and gold jewelry by the Egyptians, just to would go
away! (Ex 12:35-36)
· Israel crosses the Red
Sea on dry ground!
Now
as Israel is wandering through the wilderness with God, they will experience
and witness another miracle.
They have been traveling for three (3) days without water. The people were beginning to complain about their exodus from slavery.
Deprived of sources of water, the people grumbled at Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?” The word “grumbled” is stronger than simple complaining. It is used throughout the exodus account to refer to open rebellion against the LORD. They were questioning His ability to deliver and provide.
This is amazing, considering what they experienced just a few
days earlier at the Red Sea. They failed to see that if a sovereign and
Almighty God can part the waters to deliver His people from Egypt, Can HE
provide drinking water for His people in the wilderness?
Israel
knew that the LORD was their Deliverer. But could He also be their Provider?
They
could have gone to the LORD with their needs, believing that He would provide.
But instead, they “grumbled,” complaining that being in the wilderness was a
bad idea.
After
being confronted by the people, Moses cried out to the Lord, and
the Lord showed him a tree; and he threw it into the
waters, and the waters became sweet.
It
is worth noting the difference between Moses and the people. Moses asked for
help!
It is in the wilderness that we at times will lose sight of our LORD. We, like Israel have seen God's great works in our own lives. Beginning with our salvation (having a right relationship with God), which is a miracle! Because the fact, that God called you and you answered is amazing, considering that you were not looking for Him, right?
Like the tree that Moses used at Marah, which turned the bitter waters sweet and acceptable to drink, could be the same picture for us! We too, were once lost in our own wilderness, without knowing the beauty of God. Then one day Jesus came calling and you answered, thus the beginning of your spiritual and emotional healing. With many more healings to come!
Let
us cry out for Jehovah Rapha’s healing upon our land, our children, our government to return to justice vs corruption and of course, our own scars.
Too often we hold on to the past and the pain. We have no peace, because we keep going backwards trying to replay it in our minds to fix it. This is impossible of course, and a waste of energy.
Let’s remember that our God does
heal!
PRAYER,
O Jehovah, you are my God who heals! I come now to you as a child with my broken heart and my troubled spirit.
LORD, I need you! My ❤️ is heavy from carrying the things of the past. You tell me, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”. (Matt 11:28)
Here I am LORD, asking for Your healing upon these burdens that I do not want to carry anymore!
“Heal me from the inside out and create in me a clean heart O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation" (psalm 51:10,12)
Amen
