Word 4 Today - “Ephraim”

You remember the story and struggle that Joseph had to endure. We can say that God’s favor was on him at a young age. We can say that his brothers were envious of Joseph’s behavior and his attitude.

His brothers did not reflect the character of God, and maybe their jealousy stemmed from that.

It may be that you are a Joseph among your family. They can not understand you nor do they like God’s favor on you, because they do not want to.

Joseph‘s story is like ours. Within our family, we are mocked, lied and talked about and maybe separated from them.

During your lifetime you had to go into a different land where there God would teach you and bless you.

Allow God to remove you and lead you on a new path. There He will show you great and mighty things!
Look at Jeremiah 33:3 and let it minister to your spirit.

Remember Joseph’s wonderful words as he praised and blessed God. Read Genesis 49:50-52 and meditate on how Joseph praised God for all the blessings as well as all the struggles.

During this time, before the first of the famine years, two sons were born to Joseph and his wife, Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera, the priest of On.

Joseph named his older son Manasseh, for he said, “God has made me forget all my troubles and everyone in my father’s family.”

Joseph named his second son Ephraim, for he said, “God has made me fruitful in this land of my grief.”

Recap
Like Joseph, you have been blessed in the land of your affliction and God has caused you to forget.

Commentary
Joseph's firstborn son was Manasseh—the Lord has made me to forget

His second son was Ephraim—“God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.”

The name Ephraim means “fruitful,” and certainly God has made you to be fruitful in the land of Egypt, as he did for Joseph.
