Invite The Lord

Sometimes when we invite the Lord to inspect the garden of our lives, we realize we have been neglectful. We had let the busyness and the cares of life keep us from tending the garden as we should. Thorns have grown up and choked out some of the sweetness and beauty that should be there. Fruit isn’t developing.  It is then that I realize how much I need the Lord. I need Him to search me and show me my heart and my thoughts. Call upon the Lord to examine your life, then sit at His feet and pour out your heart to Him. Receive the love He gives you in return . Don’t neglect the One who loves you. The  time you spend with God is more important than any work you could ever do for Him in ministry, at home or even at the workplace.  Won’t you invite Him to come into your garden and examine the fruit in your life?  Father, may You be pleased with what you see, and Lord I want to spend more time with you, sharing love together in sweet communion. In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen...

When the Moment Comes

Matthew 10:20  "For it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you." Jesus spoke these words to His disciples as He prepared them for persecution. He warned them that they’d be handed over to authorities, misunderstood, and mistreated, not for doing wrong, but for bearing witness to Him. That might sound intimidating, but Jesus doesn’t leave them without comfort or help. He assures them: You won’t have to rely on your own words. When the moment comes, the Holy Spirit will speak through you. This promise wasn’t just for the disciples. It’s for every believer who has ever felt nervous, unqualified, or unprepared to speak about Jesus.  The truth is, we don’t need the perfect words. We need a surrendered heart. The Spirit of God is still speaking today through people just like you.  He whispers in quiet conversations over coffee.  He spurs us on to send thoughtful texts.  He speaks through us in small moments at work, school...

Developing a Forgiving Character

Pursuing forgiveness, not just as an act, not just as a response to a particular troublesome person, But as a character trait, is a goal for many people. Christians out of gratitude for all God has done to bless us want to honor God by reflecting His character. We are like mirrors that catch the rays of the sun and reflect them into dark places. We follow this path towards virtue (good) as we find ruts, side trails that lead us into the bushes, landmarks that allow us to evaluate our progress and even obstructions that block our way and makes wide parts of the trails that shows progress in relationships, and even bridges that must be crossed. The way of forgiveness is hard. Forgiveness isn’t for wimps! In many ways that destructive path of unforgiveness is easier than the tough steep hill of forgiveness! Still, if we follow forgiveness, we will become more loving. words by Everett Worthington   Forgiving & Reconciling
