WORD 4 TODAY - Acts 6:3

“And so, brothers, select seven men who are well respected and are full of the Spirit and wisdom.

We will give them this responsibility”

At the start of the church in the book of Acts,  the church was quickly  growing.

God was on the move! Many people and even Jewish priests were coming to the LORD!

But now Peter, James and the apostles couldn’t do all the work of preaching, teaching and church matters (food distribution)

for the peoples’ hearts were open to the leading of the Holy Spirit).

People came together, ate together and listened to the Word being preached together… what harmony!

Sadly, in today’s world people can not get along, not even families.

So the apostles asked the people to choose 7 men who …

1. Had a good reputation

(not a cheater, not a thief, etc)

2. Full of the Holy Spirit

(a man who was saved and full of love for the things of God)

3. Full of Wisdom

(One who can)

1. Know the voice of God

2. be trusted to allow God to lead him in all that he would do for Christ

3. would have a love for God’s people.

(not a taker, but a giver;

Not a proud person, but humble;

One who can surrender his/her life to God’s Will.

Father, may we walk humbly before You all of our days and may our prayer be -

That we want to be known as a follower of Christ - full of the Holy Spirit and God’s wisdom from above”

Amen
