A New Thing

Image
“I will lead blind Israel down a  new  path, guiding her along an unfamiliar way. I will brighten the darkness before them and smooth out the road ahead of them. Yes, I will indeed do  these things ; I will not forsake them.      Isaiah 42:16 There are times when you will be led to do things differently or to make the decision to move in another direction or given the opportunity to do something NEW . These times can be scary but with faith all things are possible. We need to be reminded that change is good and not to be afraid of it. We so easily become too comfortable in doing the same thing, the same way and believe that’s the only way it can be done. You must be excited about the call to change. Yes, it will put you outside your comfort zone and it may take courage, discipline, submission, practice and training, but embrace the opportunity to step out! What if you don’t?       ·      What if Gideon, who was afraid, didn’t keep questioning God, “are you sure? Give me a

From The Inside Out

I crossed path with a friend that I had met some time ago, but I did not easily recognize him. His attitude was light and fun, his point of view was positive, his looks had drastically changed and he seemed so happy.  What a contrast to when we first met. He was angry, his attitude was hard, his words were cold, his countenance was dark and his outlook about anything was negative.  He was broken!  What a dark time it’s been. But how do you begin to crawl out from that dark place? Very difficult just to get up every morning for life. Trying to pick up the pieces and trying to remain focus and functional is impossible. He has forgotten how to put one foot in front of the other.  He just wants to hide from life?  His heart’s desire is to run away from all this pain of reality. The darkness is closing in, so he will just shut his eyes and fall asleep. There’s no hunger. He doesn’t want to get up. He doesn’t want to talk with anyone. He has no more tears to cry. He is s

My Father, My Friend

Image
As we make ready to honor our earthly fathers with celebration of family, food, laughter, ties & gifts along with lots of love, let’s remember that for some this may be a day of reflection and memories instead. Here is a story from a reader who shares his fondest memories of his Dad. Being the eldest of four kids, this will be his 5 th year without his Dad. His story is especially heartbreaking because this Christian young man lost his Father just (30) days after losing his Mother, then his brother (8) months later. We often think how can one person endure such heartache and sorrow? It is only possible through our Father in heaven who gives true                     comfort, strength and peace to press onward. Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked at them intently and said,  “Humanly speaking, it is impossible.  But with God everything is possible.” " My Father was far from perfect, but I was blessed to have him as my father. He did the best he could and showed

My Boaz

Image
I remember reading God’s love story of Boaz and Ruth. How beautifully God orchestrated their meeting and circumstance with the various characters for the story. You don’t hear God speaking but you see His hand very much involved in the lives of Naomi, Boaz, Ruth and later their children. After that study, our group discussed how we all desired a Boaz in our lives. A Godly man that would have a tender heart and a gentle spirit towards us.  Like children, we desire to be cared for and protected. As I was in my quiet time, God’s showed me His love and grace towards me as He brought to my remembrance a time in my life where He put two (2) Boaz’s in my life. The Lord revealed His favor towards me when He moved within the heart of my Boss and the Company CEO at a time when everything in my life turned upside down. I did not see this until just now (15) years later. The Boaz in your life doesn’t necessarily has to be the man you want to marry. A Boaz can be someone who has co
