Spring Cleaning

Another season of Aging Gracefully would be "Clean Up." Spring cleaning is vital in keeping things in order. We can name a few places that can use some help; Garage Always the place where everyone puts away unused items. Finding a time to sort through and organize this area would be helpful. You can cash in some unused items by setting up a small yard sale just for a few hours. You can donate some items that family or neighbors can use, or even give to the Goodwill. Remember that your items can always be recycled for another person's use. Rooms There is something wonderful about disinfecting kitchen counters & shelves, bathroom, bedrooms, changing out comforters and replacing pillows. Replacing shelving paper, lights and cleaning out closets. You This "disinfect and cleaning" can also be used with our attitudes! Think about some of the areas that we can disinfect. Clean up our vocabulary, disinfect our attitude, wash our thoughts, organize our t...

May I boldly stand for Truth and 4 You For Your Name is powerful and You are good. A Father you are, ready to find me whenever I am Calling my name and stretching out Your hand. You desire my obedience that my life may be satisfied and full Your love and promises are too wonderful for me to understand. Oh Lord, what can I give You For all that You've done? All You want is my life and my heart And in return I get Your amazing love. Father, let this be my prayer today That my heart, I freely surrender to You, everday.

Just 4 You

Aging Gracefully should include finding time to do things that brings you joy. Let's think of two things that you can easily do that will bring you satisfaction. Let's see, there are several ideas: Gardening (so peaceful & rewarding) The satisfaction of sitting down to enjoy your work is rewarding. Cut grass, pull weeds, make ready a flower bed for the upcoming spring, planting something new. What about thinking of new plants? What about scheduling quiet-time when you need to water your new work? Aw, enjoy a glass of tea as you take in the work and joy of what you've done! Walk  (healthy & solitude) Being alone can be helpful. Try going for a walk around the block or two. As you start this walk, remember that your goal is to unwind and take in deep breathes that will unclog your mind and lungs! Its not a stroll, its a walk, so try a pace that is comfortable but yet, let it force you to use your hands and legs. Let's work as much of the body as possibl...

Aging Gracefully

Noticing the networks are producing more aging sitcoms for the 60+ person with interesting topics and lots of humor. I find that flattering! So with that idea, let’s use this blog to share with this age group how to stay current and upbeat in a world that is constantly changing. 1.  Let’s try adapting to change . Try finding your comfort zone and then begin to explore a change that you can make. It must be a small change so that we can still feel comfortable and in control of what we are trying to do. A good example would be; try to change something such as a style of clothing that you wear. For me, it was going from Levi’s (which I love with tennis shoes) to skinny jeans (still using the Levi material). I really enjoy this style because it is both comfortable and chic. So many ways to dress this style down or up. 2. Another suggestion would be to try a new after shave, cologne, perfume or fragrance. This can be fun & simple. Have fun with this change. ...

The Cross and Methods

This chapter will help us to see the beauty and the importance of the Gospel. We know that it is the gospel that brings salvation to those who hear and to the heart that believes it. That is the mystery of the gospel. I never understood how important it is that I do my part of bringing the gospel of Jesus to those around me and to those that I love. In my naivety it was always my understanding that I just had to invite them to church or events at church and God would do the rest. I was ashamed of the gospel of Jesus and therefore I never shared the hope I have experienced since I heard the gospel and ask Jesus into my heart. I always felt afraid of what people would say or think. I made many excuses for not sharing the good news. Satan really had me fooled into thinking that I didn’t need to speak to people about the wonderful things that God has done for me. I thought that God can use my testimony of the things that He has been doing and continues to do in my life. ...

The Cross and Kingship

To be a king requires sacrificial service. Jesus simply and truthfully explains it in Matthew 20:27 when He said; “whoever desires to be first among you let him be your slave”. Many want to be leaders, but not everyone has the desire to serve others. This was the point that Jesus was making with this scripture. If you want to be first, you want to lead, then you need also to be willing to be a slave.  Leading requires discipline and a heart of service. You cannot lead because you want to lead. You must be called to lead and have the gift. A hard task master can move people to assure that things get done in the fashion that he wants, but that is not leading. It must be done with the mindset to do it, using God’s example from the fruit of the spirit (joy, peace, love, patience, kindness, self-control, faithfulness and goodness), these attributes will move people. If not, many good people will fall away and end up getting hurt. A leader believes that they can lead because...
