“Faith” - Matthew 8:5-10

Image
Let’s take a look at what Faith looks like to Jesus.  In Matthew 8:5-10 we read about the Roman soldier and his understanding of who Jesus is and his authority and power. I will highlight words in this passage and would ask you to read the words and see just how pleased Jesus was  When Jesus returned to Capernaum, a Roman officer came and pleaded with him,   “Lord, my young servant lies in bed, paralyzed and in terrible pain.” Jesus said,  “I will come and heal him.” But the officer said, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come into my home. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed.   I know this because I am under the authority o f my superior officers, and I have authority over my soldiers .  I only need to say, ‘Go,’ and they go, or ‘Come,’ and they come. And if I say to my slaves, ‘Do this, and they do it.” When Jesus heard this , He was amazed . Turning to those who were following him, he said,  “I tell you the truth,...

My 2023 Testimony

Isaiah 41:10.  “God Is with You” Have you ever asked God, “Where are you?” Some days it can feel like you’re walking alone through life. It can seem like God is not present or with you. Or maybe it feels like He has deserted you in a difficult time. The nation of Israel experienced many moments like this. They cried out to God in the midst of pain and exile. They were honest in their prayers to God—they told Him exactly how they felt in the midst of hardship. In turn, God spoke to them through the prophets. He spoke words of comfort and hope. He reminded them of His promises, and that His character never changes. While it can sometimes seem like God deserts us, we know from His promises that He is always with us. Through life’s loneliest times or most difficult seasons, God is right next to us. He walks through every season of life by our side.  Not only is He with us, but He also promises to strengthen us and help us in times of difficulty. When we feel like we’ve run out of ...

Word 4 Today - “What is Good”

Image
Micah 6:8 “He has shown you,  O man, what is good;  And what does the Lord require of you? 1) But to do what is right …. (Our conscience is a wonderful thing if it’s influenced by God) 2) To love mercy … (We need to mature in this area of mercy, which simply means “show mercy to others, just as God’s mercies are new everyday towards you) 3) And to walk humbly with your God” (daily reminder to not think so highly of ourselves)

Word 4 Today - “Looking Back, Looking Ahead”

The author of Ecclesiastes spent a lot of time exploring the meaning of life. This “Teacher,” a king of Israel in Jerusalem (traditionally identified as King Solomon), tried it all in his quest for meaning—power and prestige, wealth and women.  And, yet, still, he observed that generations come and generations go, but it all seems to be an endless cycle… We work hard, but we eventually die. We acquire things, but we eventually die. We have families, but eventually we die. Whether we spend our lives doing good or evil, we all eventually die. But he goes on to say: “Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3‬:‭11‬ ‭NLT‬‬ When you gaze up at a star-filled sky, hold a newborn baby in your arms, or hike through a field of wildflowers, you are meant to be reminded of something greater—your Creator.  When you study what’s been ...

Word 4 Today - “In Me”

Image
John 16:33 “These things I have spoken unto you, that “In Me”           ye might have peace.  In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” “These things I have spoken unto you”, (Here Jesus is saying that this WORD which I speak to you is for your benefit.. pay attention).. “that “In Me” ye might have peace.” (“My peace” Jesus is saying, I give to you).. This is a blessing as well as a gift. The world does not have this! And the world can not know this peace that Jesus is talking about. Because it comes from God and you must believe that God is who He says He is; therefore only those who BELIEVE have “My Peace”. “In the world ye shall have tribulation” Wow, why are we then so troubled when things come our way?  Have you not heard that these (trials, illnesses, sorrows, temptations, etc), will come to you? James 1:2-4 gives us the reason for these tribulations. Let’s read. “...

Word 4 Today - “My Flesh and My Heart”

Trusting God through Pain Have you ever experienced deep pain? Maybe you or someone you know received a painful diagnosis. Or perhaps you or someone you know is living with lifelong pain. All of us experience pain, sickness, and suffering in our life. It’s part of our human experience because of the effects of sin on creation. Every single person will experience death, pain, and sickness. However, in the midst of those things, God promises to be with us. The Psalmist gives us an incredible promise in Psalm 73:26. Even though our flesh and heart will fail, God promises to be our strength and portion forever. That means God is working in our life to strengthen us. Scripture tells us that one day, God will make everything new (Revelation 21:5). The world will be like He intended it to be–free of pain, suffering, and death. God will restore all things. So, while we experience pain and suffering in this life, we can have hope and look forward to the restoration of all things–especially the ...

“Kill, Steal and Destroy”

Must share a vivid truth of what happened. Think it not strange when fiery darts come against you. As our Bible Study group is closing out this year and preparing for the next year study, this is a true picture and warning as to how real spiritual warfare is! I am writing this as it happens and I could not make this up even if I tried. Please let me know what your thoughts are. On this day, a soul brings by the order of apples that were ordered and purchased. She is excited and pleased to be able to bless others. A few hours later she is confronted and told that the apples which they had ordered were this and that.  Aww, the soul is surprisingly taken back and can not understand what happened.  Now a few hours go by and the soul has had time to think over what went wrong.. absolutely nothing! So the soul seeks God’s direction and inquires why is her kind deed being attacked? “Let me make amends”, says the soul. I will return their money so we can keep the unity of sweet fellow...
