New Year 2017 Resolution

Image
In looking back on this past year it seems that the word that comes to mind is “urgency”. There was a sense of coming together as a whole during the elections and its aftermath. There was a sense of urgency to wake up and do something about where we, as a country were going. We came together despite our color, our beliefs and cultural to survive “the year of chaos, 2016”. Now as we look forward to 2017 and the New Year, we have our ideas for new goals we want to reach, along with those honest changes we want to make.  Let me provide some food for thought. Let’s put aside our new year’s desire to get fit and lose weight.   Think about this; “What about if we can work on “being the best person we can be”? This may need to be one of those changes we will need to put some practice into, but it can also be one of those changes that can be so beneficial to us, our families and our community. It needs to begin with a thought of change, then put into practice unti

Joy To The World

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeBv9r92VQ0\ Ask yourself this question, “Do I have joy”?  Probably, sure I can laugh at myself; or “Yes, I am happy”. I am talking about the joy that gives “peace” of mind. The joy that no matter what you are going through in this lifetime, which comes in waves, you can rest knowing that everything is going to be alright. Now, I didn’t say that you wouldn’t go through hardship, nor did I say that you wouldn’t suffer heartaches.  This is our lot in life, we will all suffer at one time or another. It may be different things at different times, such as illness, the loss of your home, family, work, etc. This is called “life”. So how do you get through these times? As I am reading the first few verses of Psalm 23 (which is one of the most recited psalms), I notice that verses 1 – 3 speaks of such a joy within your heart that no matter what I am enduring, I can find that place of quiet “joy”. Undeserved Favor

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLIJxrJoWOk I am learning to ask God to teach me how to be gracious with others. As I am learning yet another new job which is totally different from what I have previously done, I confess that its been difficult for me to take instruction graciously. I need to be gracious when I see frustration in others as I am finding my way in this new position. I need to be gracious when I hear the anxiety in their tone of voice. I need to be gracious instead of allowing these ugly thoughts to consume my mind! Grace is undeserved favor which I freely receive daily from above, but yet I struggle to freely give it to others!   Romans 7:24 Oh   wretched   man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?             Lord, please forgive me. Help me to be more of a light filled with grace in my attitude towards others! I must make this my prayer for 2017. 2 Peter 3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savio

A Glorious Christmas Gift

Image
Let us worship and reflect on our Glorious Christmas Gift,    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXp6xcY5IqU    This Christmas story begins on a clear night out in the country where an angel of the Lord came and stood before shepherds that were living out in the fields keeping watch over their flock. As the glory of the Lord shone around them, the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for I bring good news of great joy which will be to all people”. There is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, named Jesus, who is Christ the Lord.   And this   will be   the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes lying in a manger.” And suddenly the heavens opened and there was a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” We celebrate every year this gift that was given to all people of all color and all races and it should be a time of family, friendships, lo
