Word 4 Today - “Looking Back, Looking Ahead”

Image
The author of Ecclesiastes spent a lot of time exploring the meaning of life. This “Teacher,” a king of Israel in Jerusalem (traditionally identified as King Solomon), tried it all in his quest for meaning—power and prestige, wealth and women.  And, yet, still, he observed that generations come and generations go, but it all seems to be an endless cycle… We work hard, but we eventually die. We acquire things, but we eventually die. We have families, but eventually we die. Whether we spend our lives doing good or evil, we all eventually die. But he goes on to say: “Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3‬:‭11‬ ‭NLT‬‬ When you gaze up at a star-filled sky, hold a newborn baby in your arms, or hike through a field of wildflowers, you are meant to be reminded of something greater—your Creator.  When you study what’s been recorded

Word 4 Today - “In Me”

John 16:33 “These things I have spoken unto you, that “In Me”           ye might have peace.  In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” “These things I have spoken unto you”, (Here Jesus is saying that this WORD which I speak to you is for your benefit.. pay attention).. “that “In Me” ye might have peace.” (“My peace” Jesus is saying, I give to you).. This is a blessing as well as a gift. The world does not have this! And the world can not know this peace that Jesus is talking about. Because it comes from God and you must believe that God is who He says He is; therefore only those who BELIEVE have “My Peace”. “In the world ye shall have tribulation” Wow, why are we then so troubled when things come our way?  Have you not heard that these (trials, illnesses, sorrows, temptations, etc), will come to you? James 1:2-4 gives us the reason for these tribulations. Let’s read. “count it all joy when ye fall into much temptations; Knowin

Word 4 Today - “My Flesh and My Heart”

Trusting God through Pain Have you ever experienced deep pain? Maybe you or someone you know received a painful diagnosis. Or perhaps you or someone you know is living with lifelong pain. All of us experience pain, sickness, and suffering in our life. It’s part of our human experience because of the effects of sin on creation. Every single person will experience death, pain, and sickness. However, in the midst of those things, God promises to be with us. The Psalmist gives us an incredible promise in Psalm 73:26. Even though our flesh and heart will fail, God promises to be our strength and portion forever. That means God is working in our life to strengthen us. Scripture tells us that one day, God will make everything new (Revelation 21:5). The world will be like He intended it to be–free of pain, suffering, and death. God will restore all things. So, while we experience pain and suffering in this life, we can have hope and look forward to the restoration of all things–especially the

“Kill, Steal and Destroy”

Must share a vivid truth of what happened. Think it not strange when fiery darts come against you. As our Bible Study group is closing out this year and preparing for the next year study, this is a true picture and warning as to how real spiritual warfare is! I am writing this as it happens and I could not make this up even if I tried. Please let me know what your thoughts are. On this day, a soul brings by the order of apples that were ordered and purchased. She is excited and pleased to be able to bless others. A few hours later she is confronted and told that the apples which they had ordered were this and that.  Aww, the soul is surprisingly taken back and can not understand what happened.  Now a few hours go by and the soul has had time to think over what went wrong.. absolutely nothing! So the soul seeks God’s direction and inquires why is her kind deed being attacked? “Let me make amends”, says the soul. I will return their money so we can keep the unity of sweet fellowship and

My Heart, Christ’s Home?

This year we learned more about God’s character in our study “The Names of God” .. It is fitting that we close out this year with a look at our house - after all, it is the temple of God, or is it? This short booklet … “My Heart, Christ’s home …  is about sacrifice, denial, and love. The very 1st room that Jesus enters is the study room of your heart. It is here where those things that you ponder are on display. The books, magazines and pictures that you allow in this room are also on display. Taken back by this uncomfortable feeling, the resident asks Jesus to help clear out this study with all its distractions. Quickly Jesus, replaces those things with bible study books on the bookshelves, the Bible is put on the coffee table next to the fireplace. The pictures on the wall are also replaced with bright colors and lively scenery. Jesus then enters the dining room. Waiting to see what is served, Jesus asks, “What things do you delight in, and what appetites do you have? What foods do y
